I have only been a career agent since October 2005. I found out quickly that it was difficult to target a market that would help me reach my goals and secure a place in my community as a trusted insurance agent. When Farmers helped develop and offered the MILK program, I knew this was the marketing avenue I needed to take to help get me where I wanted to be.
From September 2005 through September 2006, I have conducted 40 MILK events and have given over 4000 child identification kits to hundreds of parents in my community. I focused on conducting these events at various daycare, Wal-Marts, grocery stores, malls and child events in Clay County, Missouri. The MILK program has not only helped me reach my goal to achieve my Diamond level subsidy, but it has also helped me connect with the parents and children in my community on a personal level. The children love the idea of having their picture taken and really enjoy giving their fingerprints, especially with the help of local police officers and firefighters. The 3 parents have praised Farmers for offering the program to them for free and many of these parents have rewarded me by giving me their business to show their gratitude and trust in me. After calculating the numbers over the last year, 40% of my new business came from these parents and their referrals. I am now realizing that 50% of my current new business comes from referrals with many of them being referred to me by the parents I have provided the child identification kits
to.
I have recently opened my own office in Excelsior Springs, Missouri and I am finally realizing the fruits of my labor over the past year. I honestly don’t think I would have been as successful as I am now without utilizing the MILK program as just one of my marketing strategies. The MILK program
is a big part of my agency business plan and still continues to play a major role in my agency’s success.
